Family Tree Consists of 3: Heffington Christmas

Every year we trade off which family we spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with. This year we did Thanksgiving with Kevin's family so we had Christmas Day with my family. Since we live fairly close to both families we actually did Christmas with both families. We headed to my parent's house Sunday morning after church and stayed there until December 27th then headed to Atlanta for Kevin's family's Christmas (Post to come).

We had everyone except Mitch and Jill in Tennessee for Christmas. They were in Oklahoma with Jill's family. Lillian woke up around 7am to eat. We had to wait until Nana and Papa were awake to go see what Santa brought her.

The horse was made by our family friend Tyler. It is my favorite gift she got.

She also got a Georgia Tech camping chair! I love how little it is.

We then had breakfast while waiting for Uncle Nick and Aunt Brittany to come over. It worked out well that we were able to put Lillian back down for a nap while the adults opened gifts. Like many families we open one gift at a time and go oldest to youngest. Unknowingly we actually sat in a circle in that exact order. We only took a few pictures because they are basically all the same but here were some good ones.

Mom(Nana) was very excited about her Keurig she got.

This is a pillow my sister's company makes and my dad actually helps sells them when they go to America's Mart in Atlanta each January. This one was just a sample but they are some great father's day, birthday, or groomsmen gifts. The back has to cup holders for drinks or remotes. Kevin mainly got electronic stuff.

So excited for these, I kept checking the weather to see when it would rain next so I could wear them and use my new umbrella.

Lillian woke from her nap about the time we were finishing presents so it was her turn to open gifts. She racked up on some cute clothes and more educational toys!

Traditions with my family always seem to include food. Every Christmas morning we have sausage balls and monkey bread, my FAVORITE breakfast food. Then we have a later lunch/dinner around 4pm. We used to do the typical turkey/ham meal but none of us kids really liked it so one year it was suggested that we eat steak instead. And so another food tradition was born. Seriously though my dad makes the best rib-eye steaks. so juicy and full of flavor. We also have a tradition of doing a puzzle every year for either Thanksgiving or Christmas. This one was fun. It was Noah's Ark with all the animals but had some humorous aspects; penguins in tuxedos, a hand brushing the hippos teeth, and a pig in a chef's hat.

Lillian wanted to help with the puzzle as well.

The rest of the day we hung out, nibbled on some more food, Aunt Brittany made her yummy chocolate chip cookies and Nana made her sugar cookies with icing. We played a board game, watched some tv, took a few naps, and a few more pictures!
