Baby #2: Pregnancy Week 28

I'm getting bad about posting these on the correct day
28 weeks on Wednesday July 15th!

Lillian got in on some belly pics too!

Baby Growth:
  • She's starting to develop more fat, so her wrinkly skin will start to get smoother.
  • Her lungs are mature enough that she'd probably survive if she was born now. Wow!

Symptoms:
- Heartburn every night! I took like 2 Tums my whole pregnancy with Lillian and I take at least two a day with K2!
- I've been tired again lately. Not sleepy but super lazy. I thought maybe I'd get some energy and start nesting but apparently not. I still sleep fine through the night other than occasional tossing and turning to get comfortable but also feel the need to nap when Lillian naps.
-Been feeling the need to pee every 10 minutes. I usually can hold it just fine but the pressure on my bladder is intense!
- Shortness of breath especially climbing our stairs.
- I've had a few days where I just didn't feel hungry.

Dr. Appointment:
Yesterday I had my 28 week doctor appointment which meant my 1 hour glucose test.  My doctors office here is smart and gave me the sugar drink at my last appointment and told me to drink it 30-45 minutes before my 28 week appointment. I couldn't eat after midnight and luckily my appointment was at 8:45 am. The doctor said I was measuring at 31 so my belly is as big as it feels. I also had an ultrasound appointment that morning to check on the placenta. Prayers were answered and thankfully it is no longer blocking the uterus so we don't have to worry about that anymore! I had a feeling it was clear because I didn't feel the pressure anymore but did feel the pressure on my bladder. During the ultrasound the tech said "do you feel the need to pee more?" and I said YES! and she said because sweet girl's foot is pounding on my bladder. lol Her heart rate was only 128 which I thought was low since she has normally been in the 150s and the U/S tech said it gets slower later in the pregnancy and K2 was probably still sleeping since I hadn't had any breakfast yet. We didn't get any pictures printed from the U/S but we did get to see our sweet girl's face! Melted my heart and her little lips were going to town like she had a paci in her mouth!
Lillian enjoying a sucker while we wait for the doctor.

Weight Gain:
I am 26lbs above pre-pregnancy weight.

Moment of the week:
We have had an overall great week of seeing family, play dates with friends, and VBS.

July 4th Weekend

We had a fun weekend with friends, family and getting things done around the house.

Poppa helped Daddy with a lot of projects and Lillian helped too.

Getting her workout on

She is going to have some legit upper body strength

This girl is a big Daddy's girl
always a helper

And she loved having her Nena and Poppa in town.

On July 4th we headed to some friends' house for a private firework show!

Baby #2: Pregnancy Week 26

26 Weeks on Wednesday June 30th.
3 days late but at least I took a picture

Baby's Growth:
  • Her eyes are forming, and her eyes will soon start to open.
  • And her eyelashes are now grown, too.
  • She's getting her immune system ready for life on the outside by soaking up your antibodies.
  • She's taking breaths, too. They're of amniotic fluid, not air, but it's still good practice.
Symptoms:
Heartburn has returned again. Generally just in the evenings and its a symptom that's not terrible so I don't mind it. Not feeling as much pressure as I have the previous weeks so I'm hoping that is a good sign regarding the placenta previa. I did notice my feet and fingers were swelling a little this week. Nothing severe and I still wear my wedding ring but they are tight in the morning and at night. And in order to keep this blog PG lets just say my body is getting ready to Nurse and I don't mean just bigger boobs.

Movement:
Still feeling those sweet jabs into my side and bladder but oh so thankful for them.

Weight Gain: I actually weighed this week in the morning before breakfast so unfortunately it is accurate but I am about 24lbs above pre-pregnancy weight. Guess I better lengthen our morning walks a little longer.

Moment of the Week:
We finally got Daddy a new car! We did lots of research and reviewed our budget multiple times to see what worked best for us. At the end of the day we ended up with a 2016 Mazda CX-5 touring.
Daddy is very happy with it and I am very happy we didn't rush into buying something and made sure to make a smart decision for our family. We also turned Lillian's car seat to forward facing. Even though I didn't want to move her yet it has been wonderful!

Baby#2: Pregnancy Week 24 & 25

Sorry no bump pictures two weeks in a row. Maybe tomorrow I'll remember to take one and post it back here.

24 weeks:

Baby Growth:
  • Her see-through skin is gradually becoming more opaque.
  • And it's got a new pink glow, thanks to the small capillaries that have recently formed.

Symptoms:
-Had a pregnancy hormone breakdown on Tuesday. I think I was just tired and felt like we had too much going on at once.
-I also have a lot of pressure "down there" when I go pee. I asked the doctor about it and he said its normal. It is hard to know what is normal even though this is the second time around because this pregnancy has been so different. Many more symptoms. It hasn't been a hard pregnancy but it was much easier with Lillian at least what I can remember. Maybe I just blocked it all out.
- Leg cramps. this generally has only been happening at night if I wake up and stretch my leg out it crams up. I read its a sign of dehydration so more water it is because those suckers hurt at 2am!

Doctor Appointment: went for a regularly scheduled doctor appointment today. No concerns, blood pressure was good K2's heart rate was 152. Next appointment will be in 4 weeks and that is when I do my glucose test and another ultrasound to check on the placenta. The nurse I had today is the doctor's daughter and she had no issues finding the baby's heartbeat which was nice for once.

Movement: She still moves often but not a crazy amount which is good. Lillian likes to put her hand on my belly and say baby and the other night K2 moved while Lillian's hand was there. I think she felt it because she pulled her hand away but she had know idea what it was.

25 Weeks:
Baby Growth:
  • She's enjoying her new sense of equilibrium — she now knows which way is up and which is down.
  • She's growing more fat and more hair too!
Symptoms:
- overall uncomfortable but no other symptoms this week

Movement:
Feeling lots of movement this week especially in the morning when I first wake up and at night going to sleep.

Weight Gain:
up about 20 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight and I'm claiming at least 2lbs of it are actually K2.

Moments of the week:
- We got to celebrate a great Daddy this last weekend. I plan on doing a separate post for our fun times but haven't gotten to it yet.
- we also finished redoing an old dresser of Granny's for the nursery. I didn't have a dresser with Lillian just a changing table and I got tired of her clothes just in baskets so now this dresser will be for clothes and K2's changing table. Still need to find new hardware but glad it is done.
- Lillian gave me a heart attack this week. When she was about 6 months old she dove off our bed head first and got a nasty goose egg. Scared me to death but really no big deal. Well this week she was trying to climb up on a bar-stool and fell backwards normally no big thing because she catches herself but she had moved her step-stool behind it and ended up hitting her head on the stool. I went to console her noticed her shirt had blood dripping down it. That's when I got worried. Luckily her cut wasn't big and she had another goose egg but I just couldn't get it to stop bleeding. Luckily Kevin called and was on his way home so he talked her and got her calm. We finally got it to stop bleeding and gave lots of snuggles until bed time. This was the best we could do as a band-aid

Baby #2: Pregnancy week 23

23 Weeks! (not much new or exciting to report this week)

Baby Growth:
  • She's forming little nipples (yeah, really!)
  • Her face is fully formed now — she just needs a little extra fat to fill it out.
  • She's listening to your voice and your heartbeat — and even to loud sounds like cars honking and dogs barking and Lillian. ;)

Weight Gain:
Still gaining especially with the way I have been eating this week it doesn't surprise me. About 17lbs above pre-pregnacy weight.

Movement:
About the same she has been

Symptoms:
- Heartburn snuck up on me again this week. Not sure what causes it but Tums are the cure.
- I have been way more hungry this week than normal. I don't normally eat a lot in one sitting but the last few days I have had multiples breakfasts before 9am. I need to find something more filling.

Maternity Clothes:
I have hit the ugly wall. Ok maybe a little exaggeration but I definitely don't feel cute anymore as far as clothes go. Nothing fits right and the maternity shorts I bought at Target are just ugly on. They are too long and get bigger as the day goes on so I look like I just put on some of Kevin's shorts. I wore a dress one day this week and actually felt cute but was not comfortable because my thunder thighs were rubbing together. I hate to buy more maternity clothes (especially since they are all ugly) but I can't hibernate in the house all summer. I did go out with a friend last night to get pedicures so at least my feet look cute!

Moment of the week:
Nothing stands out this week. It was a pretty laid back week and kevin was out of town over the weekend so Lillian and I tried to keep busy running errands between meal times and sleep times.

Baby #2: Pregnancy Week 22

22 Weeks!
Baby Growth:
  • Now that she's got more developed eyes and lips, he's looking even more like a newborn.
  • He's sleeping in cycles — about 12 to 14 hours per day (hint: they're probably those times you're not feeling any kicks!).

Weight Gain:
- Been coasting around 16 lbs more than pre-pregnancy weight for the last two weeks but i feel like my belly is way HUGE and tight. I can also tell I am gaining weight all over because I had to loosen my watch one notch. lol but my rings are still on.

Movement:
- still feeling those sweet jabs kicks when I lay down. She isn't moving so much that it is painful or annoying so that is nice.

Symptoms:
I had been forgetting to include my symptoms for the last 3 or so posts so I'll try and remember.
- about two weeks ago I had heartburn every night for about a week about an hour after dinner. So strange because we ate something different most nights but still got it. Kevin even had it some nights too.
- I had a terrible cold/congestion this week. I know it is typical to get congestion while pregnant but this wore me out! I try not to take medicine while pregnant even though there are some that are okay to take but about 3 days of feeling awful I gave in and took some sudafed (which i realized the next day was expired) and NyQuil at night and slept better which i think helped me get over the cold faster. It still took a few more days to be back to 100%.
- I have pressure "down there" if I am doing too much and not resting in between. It feels like the K2 is trying to push her way out. I was told that could also be the pressure of the placenta since it is not in the correct place.
- My headaches are gone

Gender:
Still a girl we hope. lol

Maternity Clothes:
I gave in and bought some maternity jean shorts at target today. They are not super cute but they are comfy. I'll be on the lookout for some elastic shorts for sure because it is getting hot and my yoga pants aren't cutting it.

Moment of the week:
We moved into our house. Thanks to awesome friends and family. I surprisingly got majority of the stuff unpacked and organized but about midway through the week I got tired of it and now just have a garage full of junk that has to find a place to go. It's bad when you have a 3 car garage but can only park one vehicle in it. I'm thinking a garage sale will be in our future.

Moving Day

We closed on our new home on Wednesday May 27th. YAY!
The whole building and buying a house process overall went very smoothly. We did have a few hiccups along the way. The major hiccup was our money we transferred from our savings to checking account for our down payment didn't go through in time for closing due to the Memorial holiday. Everything worked out in the end but note to future self when transferring a large sum of money give yourself at least one full business week before money is needed. Our mortgage company Interlinc Mortgage and closing attorney were great in getting us closed as scheduled.

We were very pleased with our builder Signature Homes as well. We actually gave a video testimonial about our building process and overall thoughts about signature you can view on their Facebook page here. (Side note I noticed in the video I blink a lot. And Kevin talked majority of the time because I was too nervous.) We already new lots of our neighbors before moving in thanks to the BBQs and meet greets put on by Signature Homes. Our walk through went well and we haven't had any issues yet and our building team even gave us a Moving Day survival kit full of snacks, tools, cleaning supplies, and necessities that were otherwise packed away.

They also had a small gift for Lillian on our closing day with a necklace and bracelet, snacks, and a Moving Day berenstain bear book and I'm the Big Sister book. I mean how sweet was that and who thinks of that stuff.

Wednesday-Friday Kevin and I started hauling car loads of our stuff over to the new house and the movers came Saturday morning for the big stuff. I wanted to save money and move everything ourselves with friends and family but when you have LARGE MARGE furniture like we do moving into a two story house paying a few movers is worth it. Especially since I couldn't really help with the move again being 5 months pregnant. We used a local company called This Side Up. The owner is a friend Kevin plays ultimate frisbee with. We were provided four men and a truck and paid them hourly. Since we also had a few friends and family help us we let the movers worry with the heavy things and ended up not having to pay for as many hours as initially estimated. I forgot to take many pictures. My job was to stand at the door of the new house and direct people to the proper room each furniture piece or box went to.
My AWESOME SAUCE mom and sister pretty much unpacked my whole kitchen

The movers trying to get our very large  base up the stairs. Unfortunately once it was upstairs we realized the hallway was to small to maneuver it into our bonus room so sadly it has to be rebuilt or replaced.

our non-paid help relaxing after unloading a moving truck, and 3 other vehicles.

The only other picture I took was our new refrigerator that was delivered that morning as well. We are very happy with this purchase so far. We purchased this Samsung model from HH Gregg and got a great deal. We have always bought our appliances from HH Gregg because they always seem to have the best deal.

We are so thankful to our friends and family who gave up their Saturday morning to help us move. And thankful to the wives who spared their husbands on a weekend to help us while you stayed home another day by yourselves with your kids.
